Are acupuncture results immediate?

Updated: Aug 28, 2018

This ancient Chinese art has been around for thousands of years. Acupuncture is often used to promote health and well being in a natural manner. I use only the best, sterilised needles and by inserting these needles throughout the body, I aid in re-establishing the natural flow of Qi (energy) which in turn will promote healing and pain relief. Many clients ask me, “Are acupuncture results immediate?”, and this is what I tell them:

You should never expect acupuncture results to be immediate as everyone has a different process to go through. I can say, that with chronic conditions, you should expect that with acupuncture, your results will gradually show more and more with every session. Simply put, individuals with chronic conditions, generally have been suffering for months or years, therefore it is expected that a lot of work needs to be done to reverse the damage.

A chronic condition would be classified as a disease that develops slowly, last a long time and often is progressive. Examples of a chronic illness that can be helped with acupuncture would be: diabetes, depression, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and arthritis. Those with acute conditions could expect to see acupuncture results after just a few sessions. An acute condition would be classified as an illness that begins abruptly and lasts only a short time. Examples of an acute illness that can be helped with acupuncture would be: bronchitis, sinusitis, cold and flu, infections, headaches and migraines, and eczema.

Some of my clients have seen acupuncture results immediately after getting up from the table and others need to get 2 to 3 treatments done before seeing some improvement. After taking a detailed health history from my clients and conducting an assessment, between 8 and 15 needles would be place in specific points throughout the body for the treatment and they would be retained for about 15-30 minutes. This process is painless, very relaxing and therapeutic for many.
